Michael Jackson este [/b]Regele Muzicii Pop. Acest titlu nu si l-a dat el. I-a fost atribuit de milionaele de fani din intreaga lume si de catre ceilalti artisti, printre care nu isi gaseste egal. Cum a obtinut titlul, va intrebati? Totul a venit de la sine. L-a meritat! Nici un alt artist din istorie n-a generat vinzarile masive pe care le-a avut el. Nici un alt artist din istorie n-a primit atitea premii si aprecieri cite a primit el. Nici un alt artist din istorie nu strineste interesul si isteria in masa ca el. Si nici un alt artist din istorie n-a facut atitea eforturi umanitare ca el. Nu a existat nici un altul ca el pina acum, si nu va exista nici un altul ca el inca o data. Si asta... pentru ca Michael Jackson este unic!! El se afla intr-un loc in care n-a mai ajuns nimeni si nu va mai ajunge nimeni niciodata.
Michael a devenit un superstar la o virsta la care majoritatea copiilor invata lucruri ca alfabetul si cum sa numere pina la 10. Nascut al saptelea copil intr-o familie de 11 membri, Michael si fratii sai mai mari [Jackie, Tito, Jermaine si Marlon] au fost aruncati in lumina reflectoarelor, cind tatal lor, Joseph Jackson, un miner din Gary, Indiana, a fondat un grup din fiii sai si i-a intitulat Jackson 5. Chiar daca Michael era cel mai tinar, a devenit imediat clar pentru toata lumea ca avea ceva special. Inarmat cu o voce magica, mai matura decit virsta sa frageda si cu o aura fermecatoare care rivaliza cu a oricarui artist din acele vremuri, micul Michael conducea pe fratii sai la cistigarea concursurilor locale de talente si la un contract de inregistrari cu Motown la sfirsitul anilor '60. In timpul petrecut la Motown, Michael a inceput si o cariera solo plina de succes care rula paralel cu munca sa alaturi de frati.
In 1976, familia Jackson a parasit Motown si a semnat un contract cu Epic unde au continuat sa scoata hit dupa hit. In 1978 Michael s-a aventurat in realizarea unui filmul [The Wiz] alaturi de Diana Ross, o varianta africano-americana a "Vrajitorului din Oz". Filmul nu a fost exceptional insa l-a plasat pe Michael intr-o cursa cu destinul, deoarece pe platourile de la filmarile la "The Wiz" l-a intilnit pe producatorul Quincy Jones.
Michael si Quincy au colaborat la urmatorul sau proiect solo, Off The Wall. Si cu acest album Michael a fost imediat transformat dintr-un baietel simpatic intr-un superstar matur. Albumul a fost lansat in 1979 intr-o perioada critica din cauza influentelor muzicale contradictorii ale anilor respectivi, si de rock si de soul, albumul fiind o continua miscare de dans. Cu ajutorul melodiilor de nr.1 in top, precum "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" si "Rock With You", albumul s-a vindut in 10 milioane de exemplare si a ajuns sa fie marcat multiplatina. Este greu de crezut ca orice artist va putea egala un succes asa de mare. Dar in 1982, Michael a facut tocmai asta cu lansarea unui album monstru intitulat "Thriller".
"Thriller" a depasit toate felurile de recorduri. S-a vindut in mai mult de 50 de milioane de exemplare in toata lumea [mai mult decit orice album de dinaintea sa sau de dupa]. Albumul a avut un numar record de 6 hituri de top 10 si a petrecut un timp record de 37 de saptamini pe pozitia numarul 1. Ramine cel mai bine vindut album al tuturor timpurilor. In acel an, Michael a cistigat si 8 premii Grammy, un numar nemaiintilnit pina atunci - 7 pentru "Thriller" si unul pentru "E.T. - The Storybook". Cea mai mare parte a succesului lui "Thriller", se datora unui nou lucru numit "videoclip". Hit-uri ca "Billie Jean", "Beat It" si "Thriller" au prins viata chiar in fata ochilor nostri cu o poveste interesanta si cu abilitatile de dans incredibile ale lui Michael. Filmuletele lui Michael nu numai ca au ajutat la perfectionarea mediului video, dar a rupt si bariera de culoare a MTV-ului. "Thriller" l-a facut pe Michael Jackson un star international.
Michael a jucat un rol crucial in proiectul de binefacere "We Are The World", care a fost realizat pentru a combate foametea din Africa. El a continuat sa lucreze cu fratii sai ca si component al formatiei The Jacksons, iar turneul "Victory" din 1984 s-a bucurat de un mare succes.
La sfirsitul anilor '80, a luat cu asalt premiile industriei muzicale si cele prin care i se recunostea contributia pe care a avut-o de-a lungul timpului in industria muzicala.
Si, ce faci dupa ce ai inregistrat cel mai bine vindut album din istorie? Inregistrezi al doilea cel mai bine vindut album din istorie, bineinteles! "Bad", urmatorul proiect solo al lui Michael a fost lansat in 1987 si s-a vindut in peste 25 de milioane de exemplare in toata lumea si a inclus hiturile "I Just Can't Stop Loving You", "The Way You Make Me Feel" si "Man In The Mirror". Insotit de primul turneu mondial solo al sau [cel mai mare turneu mondial din istorie], albumul "Bad" a generat 5 hituri nr.1 consecutive [o performanta neegalata inca].
In 1991, cu urmatorul sau album, Michael a continuat vinzarile astronomice cu 23 de milioane de exemplare vindute in intreaga lume. Cu Dangerous au venit si videoclipuri mai artistice si un alt turneu mondial fantastic. Michael a intrat in istorie si cu interviul de 90 de minute din 1993, cu Oprah Winfrey. Interviul a fost transmis din casa lui Michael, de la Neverland din Santa Ynez, California si a fost cel mai urmarit program de televiziune din 1993, atragind aproape 100 de milioane de telespectatori din intreaga lume.
In plina glorie, Michael s-a confruntat in 1993, cu niste acuzatiile care au zguduit lumea show-biz-ului. Un baiat de 13 ani, fiind cunoscut ca un simplu prieten al artistului, pretindea ca Jackson a abuzat sexual de el in timpul sederii sale la Neverland. Jackson se afla in turneul Dangerous cind acuzatiile au fost facute publice, si a trebuit sa amine citeva spectacole, iar in final sa anuleze restul concertelor. Dupa multe actiuni puse in miscare de justitie impotriva lui si dupa multe mizerii atit din partea familiei copilului cit si a avocailor, s-a ajuns la concluzia ca impotriva lui Michael Jackson nu pot fi aduse nici un fel de acuzatii oficiale, din lipsa de probe. Jackson opteaza pentru a incheia acest episod urit din viata lui la o intelegere in afara tribunalului, platind familiei baiatului o suma de bani estimata la 20 de milioane de dolari. Mai multe detalii despre acest scandat, gasiti in sectiunea "adevaruri nespuse".
In 1994, Michael a surprind o lume intreaga, casatorindu-se cu Lisa Marie Presley, fiica regelui muzicii rock'n'roll - Elvis Presley. Acestia s-au casatorit in cadrul unei ceremonii private in Republica Dominicana. Casatoria celor doi a devenit pentru o perioada de timp un nou subiect de speculatii.
In 1995, Michael a lansat cel mai ambitios proiect al sau. HIStory Past, Present and Future Book I a fost un album dublu continind 15 hituri ale lui Michael din albumele sale anterioare si 15 melodii noi. HIStory a fost momentul in care Michael si-a schimbat stilul din punct de vedere creativ, cele 15 melodii find unele dintre cele mai personale melodii pe care le-a inregistrat vreodata. De asemenea acest album a fost inregistrat cu cea mai moderna tehnologie audio dolby. Pina in ianuarie 1996, HIStory fusese certificat de 6 ori platina in Statele Unite si este inca cel mai de succes album dublu din istorie.
In 1997, Michael a lansat Blood on The Dance Floor: History in The Mix. Albumul contine 5 melodii noi [unele dintre cele mai bune melodii pe care le-a compus, conform multor critici] si 8 remixuri de pe HIStory. Unii au vazut acest CD de remix-uri ca o idee minunata deoareve a adus in prim plan un album vechi de 2 ani. Tot 1997 a fost si momentul in care lumea lui Michael s-a schimbat si pe plan personal. In februarie al acelui an, sotia sa Debbie, cu care se casatorise in noiembrie 1996, a nascut primul lor copil, un baietel numit Prince Michael Jospeh Jackson Jr. O fetita, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson a urmat in 1998. Michael a spus ca faptul ca este tata este cel mai mare vis al sau devenit realitate. In 2001 apare Invincible - considerat de multi un albmun de exceptie, insa acesta nu s-a bucurat de o promovare pe masura din partea casei de discuri. Mai mult, Sony Music a refuzat promovarea mai multor proiecte legate de acest album. In ciuda acestor piedici, vinzarile au inregistrat cifre foarte bune. In vara lui 2002 a izbucnit un scandal intre Michael Jackson si Sony Music ca urmare a atitudinii casei de discuri cu privire la "promovarea" albumului Invincible.
La sfirsitul anului 2003, Michael Jackson se confrunta cu un al doilea scandal de molestare sexuala. Acuzatiile aduse sint asemanatoare celor din 1993, acestea venind exact in ziua lansarii albumului "Number Ones". Pe numele lui Michael Jackson s-a eliberat la acea vreme un mandat de arestare. Jackson insa a venit de buna voie la sediul politiei din Santa Barbara pentru a sta la dispozitia autoritatilor.
Anul 2004 incepe prin audierea lui Michael de catre autoritatile din Santa Maria, California, in legatura cu acuzatiile ce i s-au adus, privind molestarea unui minor. Solidaritatea fanilor lui Michael cu idolul lor a fost una fara precedent. Fanii din lumea intreaga s-au solidarizat protestind fata de acuzatiile aduse lui Michael. Aceste proteste ale fanilor au fost transmise de toate posturile mari de televiziune din lume.
Pe 2 aprilie 2004, o noua data importanta in viata lui Michael Jackson. Aceasta reprezinta data la care s-a stabilit primul termen al inceperii audierilor in acest caz. Indiferent ce va decide justitia americana, nici o justitie din lume nu va putea interzice muzica si dansul sau !! Michael Jackson va ramine ...... MICHAEL JACKSON !!
