Just to confirm: Yes, it does work on a Mac.
No serial number needed, at least I haven't encountered anything that's asked me for one. You'll need to mount the .ISO file (which your Mac will seamlessly do when you double-click on it) in order to play the game, so account for a 2GB install, and a 2GB .ISO file you'll need to keep around.
